Preservation of American Hellenic History

Workshops
Procedures for the Preservation of Parish Histories
36th Biennial Clergy Laity Congress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

Summary of the Workshops

Held on July 1 - 2, 2002, in Los Angeles, California, as a part of the 36th Clergy Laity Congress, the workshops were successful and gratifying. Here is a summary about:

Number of Workshops

Four workshops were scheduled and announced for Monday and Tuesday July 1- 2, 2002. (See the final update in PAHH before the workshops.)

Three of the four workshops took place. The fourth, originally scheduled and announced for Monday July 1, was cancelled in order to accommodate plenary sessions to prepare discussions for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the Congress. The plenary sessions were about the proposed charter for the Archdiocese, a controversy that absorbed much necessary attention.

Attendance in the Workshops

Sixty-four cities from twenty states were represented when people signed the guestbook in our workshops. There were visitors from other locations as well, who did not sign but who did pick up our printed material. Our guestbook from the workshops shows attendance from these states:

Arizona
California
Connecticut
Florida
Georgia

Illinois
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Missouri

Nevada
New York
Ohio
South Carolina
Texas

Utah
Vermont
Washington
Wisconsin
Wyoming

Those who attended the sessions asked many questions. Their attention and interest was also evident as most took notes throughout.
